Mid October 2018, NWO published the: “Call for Proposals Cybersecurity – Digital Security & Privacy”. The call is initiated and funded by the NWO domain Social Sciences and Humanities (NWO-domain SSH), the NWO domain Science and the Taskforce for Applied Research SIA, and meets the need to facilitate chain-wide research collaboration in the field of cybersecurity.

On November 13th the Matchmaking Cybersecurity 125 participants gathered in New Babylon Meeting Centre in The Hague. A total of 75 speed dates was arranged in three different rounds and 25 participants pitched their cybersecurity research idea to potential partners in several breakout sessions. The plenary morning session was opened by Dirk-Jan den Boer, director NWO-domain SSH. Janneke van Kersen, NWO-domain SSH explained the requirements of the call, followed by short pitches of research partners Commit2Data, Social Infrastructure Agenda, ClickNL, Taskforce for Applied Research SIA. At the end of the day, representatives from the public and private sectors reflected on what they saw happening that day. Jan Piet Barthel (NWO, dcypher) closed the event, announced the dcypher Symposium 2019 and expressed the hope that this would kick off the research projects for which the seeds had been planted at this event.
