2 November, New Babylon, The Hague
On the 2nd of November the second edition of the NCSRA Symposium will be held, during the 2015 ‘Alert Online’ period, the Dutch governmental campaign for cybersecurity awareness. This symposium offers possibilities for knowledge sharing and community building in cybersecurity research and innovation.
The NCSRA symposium is for everyone who is interested or involved in cybersecurity research, development, innovation and education. Our event is a meeting place for former, current and possibly future executors of cybersecurity R&D projects (scientists, students, entrepreneurs), public and private research partners, potential profit and non-profit users of research results, teachers and policy makers.
The event offers a podium for concrete projects, either recently completed or in progress, for which two subsequent editions of the Dutch National Cyber Security Research Agenda (NCSRA) act as the framework. The participants are given insight in the outcome (new knowledge) of earlier cybersecurity tenders. Additionally we will look at the programming of cybersecurity research in the near future. This includes announcements of upcoming (national and international) tenders in cybersecurity research, the introduction of new funding instruments, as well as an explanation of new initiatives in cybersecurity (higher) education.
We believe that networking is essential so there will be many opportunities to meet speakers and participants at the symposium location.
Special attention is paid to subjects like (higher) education in cybersecurity, cybersecurity experimentation and tools and interdisciplinary cybersecurity research. Results of a workshop on privacy research with Dutch and US-researchers, held one month prior to this symposium, will be shared. We will invite a number of respected international experts to give a presentation. Also there will be an information market with contributions from many parties, like knowledge institutions, small, medium and big enterprises in the area of cybersecurity. From them we may expect some examples of innovations and applications and stories about valorisations of research results. Looking forward to a new matchmaking event in 2016, potential project partners may possibly already make first contacts with future partners.
The symposium is organised by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RvO), the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), Applied Science Organisation (SIA) and the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) in close cooperation with the ICT Innovation Platform for Security and Privacy (IIPVV).
About the IIPVV
Since 2007 the Dutch IIPVV unites researchers from industry and academia, users as well as representatives from government in the Netherlands in the area of ICT security and privacy. The IIPVV, among others, is responsible for the publication of the Dutch National Cyber Security Research Agenda (NCSRA).
About the NCSRA Symposium
The NCSRA Symposium is a showcase of R&D projects executed within the framework of the NCSRA. Six Dutch ministries and three divisions of the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO), financially support the Cybersecurity R&D programs currently being executed. The symposium is organized by a NWO-RVO-NCSC-SIA project team and a program committee consisting of members of the IIPVV.
