Side Event U.S.-NL collaboration in cybersecurity research at the One Conference, October 3 (World Forum, The Hague)
In this side event three cybersecurity and privacy research projects will be presented; three examples of successful collaborations between researchers from universities in the U.S. and the Netherlands.
In 2013 the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Netherlands Organisation of Scientific Research NWO launched a first (pilot) call for proposals for joint research around a couple of cybersecurity themes of shared interests to both countries. The three projects resulted from this call are co-funded by DHS, NWO and the National Cybersecurity Center (NCSC) of the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security. In this track one successful and recently finished project will be presented by VU Amsterdam and UCSB researchers.
In 2015 the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) and NWO together launched a call for proposals for their jointly developed Privacy Research in Cyber Environment (PRICE) program. In preparing the PRICE program the Physical Sciences and Social Sciences domains of NWO, and the NSF directorates responsible for the Secure and Trustworthy Cyberspace (SaTC) program, worked together in creating and co-funding a multidisciplinary program. In this track, two well-advanced projects will be presented, out of the five awarded projects resulting from this call.
